New Blog at The Trenches: "Enough About Culture From The Political Junkies: Why We Fail"

Mark has penned a new guest blog for The Trenches. In it, he relays his personal experience dealing with some fake conservatives who talk a big game about "changing the culture" but mistreat those who actually want to do so.  In the case of Chris and Dana Loesch, they have long told anyone who would listen that Mark wanted undeserved support in the production of The Solution is the Problem, which was finished to rave reviews without any help. In Why We Fail, Mark fills in the…

Don't Watch the State of the Union: Mark Performs Live Online "State of the Culture" Concert Tuesday Night

Critically-acclaimed singer/songwriter and recording artist Mark Scudder will be performing live online this Tuesday, February 12 at 9pm EST. Set to compete against the 2013 State of the Union address by President Obama, Mark's "State Of The Culture" aims to remind Americans who oppose President Obama's draconian policies that simply complaining does nothing to change the world.…

New Blog at The Trenches: Deconstructing #TGDN, Part Two

Mark has written a new blog at The Trenches. Part two of his Deconstructing #TGDN series focuses on why he temporarily joined the so-called "Twitter Gulag Defense Network" and how it inspired him to finally leave the old guard of new media behind, and take real culture change to their followers. The response to the Deconstructing #TGDN series has been overwhelmig, as thousands of Twitter users run from the stigma of…

Missed Saturday's show? Watch it here

Mark performed this past Saturday night for Big Dawg Music Mafia's "Off The Cuff 'n Ruff" concert series. During the two-hour show, Mark performs most of the tracks from his upcoming album The Solution is the Problem, plus songs that have inspired him through the years. The set isn't without its flaws - the click track is audible during "Free," Mark's guitar preamp dies during "Her God,"…

The Album Is Done! Now What?

The Solution is the Problem is finished! Here are the plans I have for the release. First, a note about music stores. The music will be available on iTunes, Amazon, and other digital retailers, but buying directly from my store will get you some additional bonus material. It's better for me in a number of ways if you buy it directly from my store, so I want to make it worth your while. On my store you can have the album in any format you desire - MP3, iTunes Plus (or AAC), Ogg…

Sessions This Tuesday, Thursday

Mixing is beginning to go well for The Solution is the Problem. There's very little left to record, but as mixes progress, there may be a few lines here or there that will have to be re-recorded. As I enter the mixing stage of things, I also enter the "patching" stage of things - where something previously recorded I thought would work out won't. In upcoming sessions, I'll be working with all the songs and you'll hear complete mixes for them, maybe for the first time. Your…

Want to sing on my next album?

I've been so happy with the success of crowdsourcing production support for The Solution Is The Problem that I'd like to give something back, or at least something that's mututally beneficial. There are two songs on the album that have "gang vocals" - large refrains that I'd like to hear sung by a big diverse group of people. The end of both "Moving to Silence" and "Occupied" have gang vocal sections and now all I'm missing is the gang. Because I'm…

Production Sessions Tuesday Through Thursday

We had a lot of fun last week putting vocals together for The Solution is the Problem, and listening to preliminary mixes for a few songs that are done.  Production continues this week, and as usual, I'll be live-streaming it all. Production sessions will take place this Tuesday, June 19; Wednesday, June 20; and Thursday, June 21 starting at 6pm EDT.  As always, sessions are streamed live on my…
